- LITERAL
(a) I,Alyssa Jurkevics, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 23 hours of work.
(b) The source that I used that helped me completed my independent component was my mentor Gary Mitchell, the founder of the organization Planet Rehab. Most of the information that I received for my topic which helped me tied into my independent component was from him. - (d) Explain what you completed: What I had completed for my independent component was help organize three different events to help raise awareness to local communities and help raise money for all the expenses of the animals we care for. By the end of it all I was only able to complete 23 hours of my independent component.
- INTERPRETIVE
Defend your work and explain its significance to your project and how it demonstrates 30 hours of work. Provide evidence (photos, transcript, art work, videos, etc) of the 30 hours of work. - The significance of my work to my project was that in order to become a wildlife rehabilitator you need to be skilled in many other things than just be skilled at one. Such has informing people, show awareness to the community about the animals, and being able to do marketing to attract people to come help participate in the cause or help donate money. Because the sad truth is the government isn't willing to pay for all the expenses for the wildlife rehabilitation centers, most of these places survive on there own by doing fundraisers and events to recruit people or to find potential donors to donate money to help keep it running. Also to become a wildlife rehabilitator you need to be able to have great communication skills to inform others about the benefits of wildlife rehabilitation and what they do.
